Taste and See
Celebrating the Five Senses this Epiphany
January 11 | Touch
Baptism of the Lord
Come celebrate the gift of baptism with us. Those who have been baptized, as well as those who have yet to receive this sacrament, will be invited to touch the water and feel the goodness of the Lord.
January 18 | Hear
Come celebrate the gift of hearing with our actual ears and with our heart. We will hear music and other sounds in the sanctuary that remind us of God's presence. We will listen to Jesus's words from the Sermon on the Mount and consider what they mean for us now.
January 25 | Smell
Come smell the sweetness of communion being kneaded in the bread machine and baked in the kitchen as we prepare for communion next Sunday. We will consider the gift of smell (especially incense in scripture) and how it relates to prayer.
February 1 | Taste
Come taste the good gifts of the Lord's Table and see that the Lord is good! We will consider Jesus's teaching from the Sermon on the Mount that we are the salt of the earth.
February 8 | See
Consider with us Jesus's words from the Sermon on the Mount about how we are the light of the world and a city on a hill. How do others see us? How does God see us? How do we see ourselves?
February 15 | Transfiguration
Come celebrate all the senses God has given us as we remember and consider the story of how Jesus shone before his disciples in a bright light with a thundering voice above him.
